The Problem
Large events often leave guests struggling with logistical friction, such as finding seating charts or locating parking, while waiting through idle transitions between ceremony and reception. Traditional printed signage is static and offers limited opportunities for meaningful interaction.
Logistical Friction: Guests frequently lose track of schedules, seating assignments, and venue details without relying on physical paper clutter.
Passive Guest Downtime: Transition gaps during cocktail hours often leave guests waiting passively with minimal interactive engagement.
Research & Insights
I mapped out guest mobility patterns and physical touch points across the venue to understand how spatial interactions and mobile design could eliminate friction without disrupting the event flow.
Touch point Friction: Guests prefer instant, friction-free access to information over downloading heavy native apps or filling out registration forms.
Tangible Engagement: Combining physical objects with digital reveals creates higher engagement than purely screen-based interactions.
Design Pivot: Integrated physical NFC-tagged origami triggers with mobile browser interfaces to provide instant, app-free WebAR access.
The Solution
The system combined an intuitive day-of event app with a 3D spatial dice game that unlocked personalized photo memories upon rolling.
