AR Wedding Dice Game & Event App
2025 | Spatial Interactive Game & Event App

Summary
An interactive day-of event mobile app and augmented reality (AR) spatial dice game created to elevate guest engagement during a wedding celebration. The system paired QR codes and physical NFC origami triggers to guide guests seamlessly through schedules, seating, and interactive play.
Role: Solo UX Designer & AR Developer (Spatial Design, Prototyping, WebAR)
Timeline: 8 weeks
Platform: Glide App & 8th Wall WebAR
Outcome: Built and deployed a functional event app and interactive AR dice game with photo memory reveals, achieving high guest adoption on event day.
The Problem
Large events often leave guests struggling with logistical friction, such as finding seating charts or locating parking, while waiting through idle transitions between ceremony and reception. Traditional printed signage is static and offers limited opportunities for meaningful interaction.
Logistical Friction: Guests frequently lose track of schedules, seating assignments, and venue details while relying on physical paper clutter.
Passive Guest Downtime: Transition gaps during cocktail hours often leave guests waiting passively with minimal interactive engagement.

Research & Insights
I mapped out guest mobility patterns and physical touch points across the venue to understand how spatial interactions and mobile design could eliminate friction without disrupting the event flow.
Touch point Friction: Guests prefer instant, friction-free access to information over downloading heavy native apps or filling out registration forms.
Tangible Engagement: Combining physical objects with digital reveals creates higher engagement than purely screen-based interactions.
Design Pivot: Integrated physical NFC-tagged origami triggers with mobile browser interfaces to provide instant, app-free WebAR access.
Process & Key Decisions
Multi-Modal Journey Mapping
I mapped the physical-to-digital guest experience, connecting a physical trigger(tapping an NFC-tagged origami cube placed at guest tables) directly to a browser-based WebAR 3D dice experience with zero app installation required.
Zero-Onboarding Mobile Design
Designed for wedding guests across all age groups and technical backgrounds, the experience prioritized frictionless access. By comparing unique day-of site sessions tracked via Glide against the guest count, the web app achieved an estimated 75% adoption rate, giving guests instant access to event schedules, venue details, and searchable seating charts via quick, one-handed thumb navigation.

The Solution
The system combined an intuitive day-of event app with a 3D spatial dice game that unlocked personalized photo memories upon rolling.
NFC-Triggered AR Gameplay: Allowed guests to tap physical origami dice with their phones to launch interactive WebAR dice and unlock photo memories.
Streamlined Event Hub: Consolidated live schedules, interactive seating charts, and ceremony details into a clean, mobile-first interface.
Tactile-to-Digital Bridge: Blended physical craftsmanship with spatial AR interactions to create a seamless, memorable guest experience.
Impact & Retrospective
Future iterations could explore expanding WebAR interactions to support additional multi-user social games during cocktail hour.
Key Outcomes & Impact
High-Adoption Instant Onboarding: Achieved 75% day-of guest adoption using zero-friction NFC triggers and QR codes, eliminating app store downloads.
Low Operational Friction: Streamlined event-day logistics via a self-service web app, eliminating guest inquiries around parking, timing, and seating.
Seamless Physical-Digital Interaction: Merged practical day-of utility with an interactive AR spatial dice game triggered by custom physical origami cubes.
Key Takeaways
Web-Based Deployment Eliminates Barriers: Leveraging browser-based frameworks (WebAR and web app architecture) ensured guests across all age groups and devices participated effortlessly.
Utility Drives Delight: Anchoring novel spatial AR interactions alongside critical day-of logistics (seating, schedule, map) created a memorable experience while keeping the event operating seamlessly.
